BS 5306:3 recommends the competent technicians training should include “on the job experience” and attendance of a training course run by a recognised training body followed by a successful completion of an examination administered by an independent body. Candidates attending our course will receive up to date course guidance notes covering all recommended publications as well as practical training and on-going assessment to establish their skills in fault finding and servicing a number of extinguishers.
The course is carried out in accordance with British Standard 5306-3:2009; Commissioning and Maintenance of Portable Extinguishers - Code of Practice.
Anyone looking to maintain service or inspect portable fire extinguishers.
The successful candidate will be qualified to provide advice on the suitability and positioning of portable extinguishers (BS5306:8) and to carry out maintenance and periodic servicing including commissioning (BS5306:3).
Theoretical training on the initial course will include provisions of BS 5306:3, BS5306:8, BS 7863, Classification of Fire BSEN2, legal requirements relating to transportation of Extinguishers (ADR), disposal of extinguisher media, safe working practices and Health and Safety affecting a Service Technician.
Our theoretical and practical examinations are carried out by BAFE. Upon successfully passing the exams, candidates receive a certificate which is suitable for submission to third party certification schemes.
