We aim to provide the very best level of training, to allow delegates to be able to perform Fire Extinguisher Testing and Fire Extinguisher Inspection operations competently.

We deliver “open” courses in Durham on a regular basis and we also have delivered on customer’s sites, (minimum numbers required).

We have an exceptionally high pass rate for the course and exams are conducted to the highest level of scrutiny, to maintain a true and fair process.

Fire Extinguisher Maintenance Initial Course – British Approvals for Fire Equipment, (BAFE) Certificated

Training of Competent Persons. A competent person (BS 5306:3) is one who has undergone an initial programme of training which includes “on the job” experience and attendance of a training course, followed by a successful completion of an examination administered by an independent examination body.

Candidates attending our course will receive up to date course guidance notes covering all recommended publications as well as practical training and on-going assessment to establish their skills in fault finding and servicing a number of extinguishers.

The course is carried out in accordance with British Standard 5306-3:2009; Commissioning and Maintenance of Portable Extinguishers – Code of Practice.

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who requires certification in portable fire extinguisher inspection, testing and maintenance.

Learning Outcomes

The successful candidate will be qualified to inspect, service and provide advice on the suitability and positioning of portable fire extinguishers.

Theoretical Training

Theoretical training on the initial course is likely to include provisions of E.N.2, E.N.3:7, B.S.5306 :3, B.S.5306:8, B.S.5306: 9 and B.S.5306:10 as well as references to requirements relating to the transportation of extinguishers (ADR) and safe working practices in customer’s premises.

Practical Training

The student will undergo practical training establishing their skills in fault finding in, and servicing of, a number of different portable extinguishers, including different media.

Assessment and Certification

Our theoretical and practical examinations are carried out by B.A.F.E. (British Approvals of Fire Equipment). Upon successful completion of the examinations, students will receive a certificate which is suitable for submission to third party certification schemes.
