What sort of training do you offer?
We can work with businesses to cover a wide area of Training requirements, we obviously specialise in Fire Safety and First Aid/Trauma care, as well as the industrial types of courses, such as Breathing apparatus, Incident Command, Working at Height, Confined Space and many more. We value the relationships we develop with our customers and have a very close, but casual business approach, to ensure customers feel comfortable to be able to contact us at any point to ask for things they may require, knowing they’ll never be oversold or pressured into purchasing anything they don’t require.
Is the training accredited?
Some of our courses are, some aren’t, it really depends what the customer requires out of the training and what we are able to provide to a really high level of knowledge, based on skills, experience and qualifications of our instructors
What’s the minimum / maximum groups you will train
That is dependant on the type of training required, however each course is evaluated to ensure the learning is not diluted by adopting the “stack ‘em high” attitude, it’s always better to speak individually with a member of the team to ensure the experience the learners get is the very best and matches, if not exceeds the expectations of the business
How do I know how many extinguishers I need in my premises?
That would need to be determined by a suitably qualified/experienced person – either internally or an external person. VFS have a number of staff who are qualified through BAFE as Technicians to be able to provide advice and guidance on the appropriate amount of extinguishers required and their locations.

Can you deliver on site, or do we have to come to you?
Yes we can deliver any course on site, however we will always work with you to provide the best possible, safest solution, that provides the very best learning experience for the students. This may mean it is more effective to perform training at our purpose built training centre, or it may be more viable to do it on a customer’s site – either way, we work with customers to ensure the best outcome is achieved.
How do I find out how many First Aiders and Fire Marshalls I need in my building?
That’s really based on a Risk Assessed approach, and also dependant on the amount of employees a business has, but also where they are situated in a building. We can work with businesses to ensure they have the right amount of cover in the areas required.
Does the P50 have any other costs once I buy them?
Once purchased, there is a refurb required after 10 years, but once performed, its back with the customer for another 10 years. Its certainly proving to save costs in businesses nationally and internationally – again, we won’t ever sell a P50 extinguisher to a business if there is no benefit to the business – there are a lot of good service companies out there, however if what we can provide will help make efficiencies, then we welcome the opportunity to discuss these with anyone who wants to find out more.
Why does the Fire Service need a commercial Trading Arm?
Since 2010, Fire Service’s around the UK have seen a large proportion of their government funding reduced, this means to ensure Service’s such as County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service maintains its high level of performance in attending reported incidents, we have to look at many elements of efficiency, one of which is to look at areas of income generation to attempt offset some of the cuts we were experiencing.
